The Rise of the Western World is one of the classic works of new economic history study. It is a kind of explanatory study or a kind of expanded explanatory outline rather than a work about economic history of traditional significance. What it provides is not a standard exhaustive study of economic history or the correct and experimental verification of the new economic history. Instead, it is aimed to provide a new approach for the studies of the European economic history, not to cater to some standard forms.
