Offering a message of hope to anyone afflicted with a drug addiction problem, Alan Boden spares no punches in his story of how he manages to turn his life around after an intense life of uncontrolled drug addiction since his early teens. Only in his thirties does he begin to recognise the futility of the life he is leading and begins the long, slow road back to rehabilitation and complete freedom from drug dependency. Using many years of addiction as invaluable experience, he not only wins the battle with himself, but devotes his working life to train as a counsellor and help others suffering from the same desperation. Alan Boden was born in 1955 on a run-down council estate in the North-West England town of Warrington. Alan was a building labourer and worked on a travelling fairground. His drug addiction led him into trouble with the law and he served a string of short prison sentences. He met and married Denise, a mother of three, and they had a son together following the completion of his treatment with Phoenix House. Alan became a qualified counsellor and worked for Phoenix for more than 20 years helping others overcome their addictions. Alan undertook the writing of this book before sadly succumbing to cancer in May 2010. Chris Robinson is a former journalist, labourer, photographer and lecturer. Chris has travelled widely, mainly hitch-hiking across Europe and has always written stories since he could hold a pen. He is married to Judi and is a proud father and grandfather. He lives and works in the Merseyside area.
