Obie Greenway hates his step-dad. His junior year in high school, he teams up with a kid named Bozo, a Salvadoran migrant with an huge Afro, and Coop, a boy genius from the poor side of town who is most grateful for the arrival of Sixties hippy chic because it helps cover up the shortcomings of his own wardrobe. The three friends come together to help each other navigate both the noise and confusion of growing up in the turbulent times and learn how to confront a world seemingly hell bent on creating obstacles for them to overcome. The question is will they all make it through the labyrinth of 60s era Fresno intact.
