It’s 2075, with fun gadgets and futuristic machines. Best friends Kiki and George are about to embark on their first time-travel history field trip when the Harrison twins from their class push a button that opens a new portal to 1755. Kiki and George must work together not only to return to their own time but also to prevent the twins from stopping the young George Washington from becoming the next leader. "My fourth graders loved this book! It's such a fun twist on time travel! Students need a strong historical and science fiction novel reading series at this level. The Timeless Adventures of Kiki and George is the perfect story to fill that niche. The story is dynamic, the characters are inclusive, the history is educational, and the adventures kept us on the edge of our seat all the wy through. We need more!" -Arianne Murray, M. Ed. -4th Grade Teacher Dear reader,     Did you know that Commander Braddock really did give his red sash to the then Captain George Washington? You can even see the sash for yourself in the museum at Mount Vernon. I included a photograph of it in the back of the book. Cool, huh?   What do you think would have happened if Washington never received the sash and didn't take charge during the battle? Would he still become the General of the Continental Army and a main leader of the Revolutionary War? Would he still have become the first President of the United States?  I hope that as you read this series, you will put yourself in Kiki and George's place.   You can't always control what happens to you, like Kiki and George being kicked out of the time pod, but you can control how you respond, like George trusting Mildred and having the courage to get the sash to Washington.  Thank you for your interest in The Timeless Adventures of Kiki and George, I hope you enjoyed it and look forward to reading book two of the series, Star.  Happy reading!     Tracy D. Smith Prologue George gulped as a large gust of air hit his throat, burning all the way down. The bright sun bounced off the gold-plated walls of the time pod above him, making it hard to see. He raised his arm to shield his face and blinked several times, trying to understand what was happening. He tried to sit up but realized he was still attached to his seat. The chair spun around through the air like a kite as he frantically failed his arms. "The red button!" His best friend, Kiki shouted to him from below. Somehow Kiki had managed to unhook herself and still hold onto her mother's book. He was impressed. He pressed hard on the plastic red button, and his seatbelt harness released immediately. The chair flew from underneath him and drifted several feet away. Still falling fast, he swung his arms, attempting to get to Kiki. She did the same. "What's happening?" he shouted. "I. Don't. Know," she cried. Tracy D. Smith is a historical fiction author with a background in education.
