The Touch follows homicide detective, John Wiley through the streets of Washington, D.C., tracking the disappearance of Elizabeth Hartner, the daughter of a well-known senator. A terrorist organization known as Polik sends proof of her imprisonment, and demands the release of a mysterious businessman, Gerald Aswan, from a local jail. Undeterred, Wiley uses his psychic powers, his “touch,” to rescue Elizabeth Hartner, who he finds is held captive near the Potomac River; but Aswan’s already been released. Soon – after being kidnapped himself – Wiley escapes, and confronts Aswan, seizing the criminal’s most valuable possession: a crystalline cube loaded with personal information about everyone on the planet, stolen from databases worldwide. Wiley leaves the cube open for re-capture, and lures Aswan’s team into a trap. In a final confrontation, Wiley and Aswan leave the fate of the now disabled cube to the winner of a Chinese game of Go. That’s when John Wiley boldly steps in, and cleverly alters the course of the story, and history, forever.
