Never a good student in high school, Dearth would later earn a master's degree while balancing a full-time job and parenting alone. She remarried and spent more than two decades working in corporate America.   In 2011, she achieved her dream of becoming a writer by releasing her debut novel,  Believe Like A Child. The beginning of Believe Like A Child is based on real events from Paige's childhood.
