In a world where love isn’t as perfect as romantic stories portray it, this uncompromising love story offers a refreshing dose of reality—via dark fantasy inspired by classic tales such as Alice in Wonderland , The Wizard of Oz , and Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid . Sometimes it takes a little magic to jar us out of the ruts we end up in. And in this one-of-a-kind romantic fantasy, Morgan Juarez’s rude awakening comes in the form of a strange dream that finds her wandering the eerie halls of the Wicker Palace hotel. On the outside, Morgan is a twenty-five-year-old woman stuck in a dead-end job as a waitress at the funky restaurant in the old hotel. But on the inside, she’s been battling her past…until one night, when she finally comes to a breaking point. In a dream, she’s led on a fantastical journey by a cast of curious characters that give her the courage to follow her life’s dreams. The Wicker Palace is a story about real people—people from the ghetto who don’t have much—people living on the edge, tattooed rock-and-rollers, rebels, and outcasts—that will make you believe in magic again. Anthony G. Juarez has always been a peculiar individual. Growing up, he was fascinated by fantasy stories such as Alice in Wonderland , The Wizard of Oz , and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid . At first, he felt awkwardly ashamed of his interest in things others would consider unorthodox. But as an adult, his wonderful weirdness has inspired him to become a writer. As a reader, he grew tired of only seeing the shining, beautiful side of love stories, as they seemed unrealistic and unsuitable for him. As a writer, he wanted to create something more relatable-something with a heart-so he decided to share his own love story. Inspired by a dream and influenced by the dark fantasies of his youth, The Wicker Palace tells of a love he once knew, experiences he's had, and battles he has fought.
