Welcome to the Wonderful, Wacky, World of Red Wiggler Worms. This is an informative yet entertaining look into the world of Red Wiggler worms. Red Wigglers make the best fertilizer in the world! This story is based on a true event. As an instructional aide in a Special Ed class a few years ago, along with an amazing teacher named Shea Tower, I designed a project for our science class. We started a worm farm with one worm bin and 1000 worms. The project lasted four months and produced a good harvest of worm castings. Castings play a very important role in keeping our soil healthy. My story tells of all the things the students learned, from how to care for the worms, to the growth and importance of microorganisms, as well as reproduction. The fun part is the reactions of the kids as they discover the world of worms. The uniqueness of the story is seeing life from inside the worm bin. Our worms take on human qualities and show us how they feel about life. From excitement and fun, to fear yet bravery, we see it all. We learn what makes them happy and what makes them uncomfortable. The Wonderful, Wacky, World of Red Wiggler Worms is an amusing, yet very informative look at something that literally keeps our earth alive.
