If you have suffered a significant loss, you might be experiencing physical symptoms, such as headaches, sleeplessness, or indigestion. Or perhaps you have racing thoughts about your loss, or don’t quite know how to honor your loss. Yoga has something to say about each of these common occurrences, and more. In each chapter, you’ll explore how yoga can help with the physical, mental, or emotional aspects of a grief experience. Reflection questions are designed to help you explore aspects of yoga and grief, and to begin to incorporate your loss into your life. Each chapter begins with a short reminiscence about the author’s own experience in grief and how yoga principles helped her. Then the chapter’s theme is explained. Full-color photos show a yoga pose that supports the chapter’s theme, as well as a mudra (hand gesture) and a breath practice. QR codes and web addresses are provided for accessing a guided meditation and asana (yoga pose) practices. Each chapter ends with Yoga in Action - a recap of the yoga philosophy found within the chapter - and a list of affirmations that can be cut out and carried with the reader. "I liked how throughout the book emotional truth [is woven together] with practical guidance, making the journey through grief feel less isolating and much more supported. I also liked the compassion and clarity, offering solace without sugarcoating the difficult realities of loss. I especially appreciated how the yoga practices were introduced not as solutions, but as companions on the journey—gentle, mindful ways to reconnect with the body and spirit in the midst of emotional pain." - Deb Rentería "I appreciated the comforting pace of the book, which offers a myriad of choices on how to proceed. I like that you can do everything or pick and choose your favorites, cut out parts for reminders, write, and color. Including codes to scan for guided exercises is genius. This will bring a lot to people who want to dig deeper and feel comforted by not having to figure it out for themselves. This is also nice for those who don’t have a [nearby yoga] studio" - Amy Doar, LPC "The writing is so very clear and concise and full of genuine insight about what drives us as human beings." -Susan White
