Within the pages of this book, we delve into a universe where desires, passions, dreams, and inventions blend in a fascinating union with the world of Automotive — an elite realm traditionally dominated by men. The protagonists of these compelling stories were not trying to imitate men, but simply wished for the freedom to choose their own path in life, demonstrating extraordinary determination in an era marked by widespread gender prejudice and stereotypes during a time of great change. The first part of the book recounts the stories of women behind major automotive brands, such as Laura Garello, wife of Enzo Ferrari, and Annita Borgatti, wife of Ferruccio Lamborghini. It is important to highlight that they were not only wives, mothers, and daughters, but also competent and enterprising administrators, while their husbands focused on building extraordinary machines. The second part of the book explores the role of women from the 18th century to the present day, emphasizing their unique struggles for freedom and their steadfast perseverance in their beliefs. The third part defines the concept of Automotive, retracing the origins of Supercars and the fundamental role of the great coachbuilders, enriched with meaningful anecdotes and stories. Through a female perspective, the book highlights extraordinary women and boldly delivers a clear message: women have – without a doubt – played a key role in the history of the automobile. CAROLINA BAUR : a South Tyrolean woman with a passion for supercars thanks to her husband Claudio Leone, discovers the contribution of women in a male-dominated world and tells their stories in her book. Her debut took place on May 26, 2022, at the Motor Valley Festival, during an interview with Rita Costi at Scuderia Belle Epoque S.r.l. in Formigine (MO). The book caught the attention of prestigious media outlets such as La Repubblica , Alto Adige , Corriere dell’Alto Adige , Tutto Porsche , and Ruote Classiche . The magazine QuattroRuote highlighted a gap in automotive literature, a void now filled thanks to this publication. Translated into German, the book received an enthusiastic review from Marco Rassfeld of autobuch.guru . Prominent figures like Nino Balestra and Tonino Lamborghini praised the work. Journalist and author Leo Turrini described it as “wonderful,” while Rossano Candrini, a regular acquaintance of Laura Garello and Enzo Ferrari, appreciated the authenticity with which the stories of these extraordinary women are told. The book has received media attention on various programs, including Il Salotto di Wheels and Heels , hosted by Anna Mangione.
