A seat fifteen feet up connected to a tree in the middle of the woods is a magical place. Deer and other animals walk by without noticing you are there. You enter their world and have the privilege of observing their natural behaviors up close. Much of the time however you are lost in your own thoughts. This book is about my solitary experiences sitting in a tree stand. My observations about nature were guided by my background in biology, and my personal thoughts about life were guided by my background in philosophy. The book bounces back and forth between nature observations and topics such as, life and death, religion, politics, alcohol, and grandkids. Hopefully it will inspire you to find your own tree stand, which will allow you to think about what’s important in your own life.
