It was 1973 and I was a freshman at Lynchburg Baptist College (now Liberty University). Every freshman was required to take a course titled “The Christian Life.” The course was taught by a loving Christian man who later became my mentor and spiritual father, Dr. C. Sumner Wemp. In that class, I learned the principle of living a Christ-centered life. I will forever be grateful that someone took the time to take these dynamic spiritual truths and put them in simple terms so I could understand them and apply them to my life. Another resource I was introduced to in that freshman year was a book by a Chinese pastor who had been imprisoned for his faith. That man’s name was Watchman Nee. He wrote a book titled The Normal Christian Life! He stated that “The average Christian leads such a subnormal life that he makes the normal Christian seem abnormal!” That thought challenged me and I determined to step up to a higher plane and become “the normal Christian.” In this devotional, I have attempted to take the great principles I learned from these two giants of the faith and incorporate them in only 90 devotions for you to ponder. My prayer is that they will help you become the Christian God desires you to be. Sincerely, Pastor David Teis
