Previously certain her time travel trip was a hallucination, Jaelle changes her mind when a new exhibit at work features a piece of Hadrian's Wall with graffiti she created in the first century. I loved Time of the Picts so much that I couldn't put it down! We delve deeper into Jaelle's and Breth's adventures protecting the clan - as well as their romance! What I love most about this book in particular is the author takes us to the past with a real feel to the world - and we learn more about the Picts' history as it happens with Jaelle, Breth, the clansmen, and even the druids. There are intrigue and power plays. Jaelle recognizes someone from her time, and it's not a good thing! Jane Stain knows what she is writing about and it shows. She loves her characters and it shows! She keeps you enthralled from the very beginning with the way she weaves the story with wonderful characters! There are people who we are sure are good, there are those we are sure are the bad guys, and there are those whose motives we can't be sure of at all! While the book can be categorized as a romance, it is definitely so much more. In this story, we are shown the continuing adventure of time travel to learn more of true living breathing history. We have the undercurrent of the druids and their quest for more power. For me, this separates this book and series from the usual romance stories. The romance is there, but it is not the "be all, end all" of this series. This is what keeps me wanting more because there IS more! The author has created a different type of series with the time travel, action, adventure, humor, and romance. Her particular mixture has resulted in an intriguing story that I enjoy most when I read. I love learning something new as I read as well, and it's wonderful to learn about a culture as the story unfolds. I am so curious to see what Ms Stain has to come for our time traveling friends, their friends, and us!With each book, I feel the series is indeed becoming more substantial as it moves along.
