Authors Note: As a member of the Belizean diaspora, traveling to Belize every year was an essential part of my childhood. My summers were long, hot, and filled with adventure, family, mosquitos, and mangos. These trips helped me learn about my culture, language, roots, and traditions. As I transitioned to adulthood, I realized how crucial learning about Belize was in building my civic pride as well as forming an identity of my own. I made a personal effort to learn more about Belize in a holistic way, from its rich cultural history to its dense biodiversity.
