A touching story about sharing, building community, and a tall beautiful tree that opens its large, welcoming branches to all.  For a long time, Bird has been looking for the perfect tree. And finally, there it is! Big and beautiful, with large branches to build her nest on. And with fragrant blossoms welcoming her. But as other animals want to live there too, she soon realizes that trees are not just for birds, and life is better when we have others around us.  For animal and tree lovers ages 4 years and up. CBCBook’s May Hot Off the Press "Delighted to find a perfect tree in which to build her nest, Bird settles in its upper branches. Her contented reverie is broken by a raccoon on a nearby bough, equally excited to have found the ideal resting spot. A squirrel soon scampers into view, followed by a parade of other critters, all insisting that the tree is meant for everyone. Bird is furious; she found the spot first, so why should she have to share? But she has a change of heart when she watches a beautiful sunset from her nest and realizes that it would be even nicer to share the moment with a friend. Come daylight, she gathers the other residents together to watch the spectacular sunset and hopes that they stay. The sweet, silly story makes a strong case for sharing, and comforting repetition and comical exaggeration in the text would make for an amusing read-aloud. The cartoonish illustrations are suffused with soft, warm light, and the cute characters are quite cuddly. It’s a simple but meaningful message about the joy in generosity." - Booklist Bonnie Grubman  grew up with a love of reading. As a child, she lived in an apartment with her family, pet turtles, and a parakeet. On hot summer nights, she would cool off on the fire escape with a flashlight and a big stack of books. Bonnie went to nursing school, but later decided to trade her nurse's hat for a classroom full of picture books. She was inspired by her students who found joy and curiosity in everything they saw. Because of these kids, and for all kids, she became a writer. Bonnie lives in Syosset, New York. Katrien Benaets  obtained her master’s degree in Free and Applied Graphics at PIKOH (Hasselt, Belgium). Since her first encounter with a pencil, she has been passionate about drawing and illustration. Katrien uses visual storytelling to invite children to enter new, fantastical worlds.
