BAD STUFF X THREE=TROUBLE I’m Crow. Private Investigator. Friends call me Bird. I know that a Private Eye deserves whatever he gets. That’s the business. Right? Like it or not, bad stuff comes with the territory. But it seems like every case I get is full of wackos, and this one is no different. What’s with that? I’m not just talking bad guys, but full-blown wackos. And to make matters worse, this case comes in triplicate. Client Jill Granderson says it when she hires me. “Sometimes, things come in threes.” Okay. I get it. Things come in threes. And none of them are good. Like a beating, rape and murder in Gower, Missouri. Cold case, until I start snooping. The County Sheriff calls it a beating, rape, and suicide. That’s close to the same, but not the same. He says case closed. Wants it kept that way. What’s he trying to cover up? And why? Then, I come across the Militia secession plot. The one with the weird new world order. Terminally weird. But that’s only the beginning. The creepy just keeps getting creepier. Which brings me back to the wackos. A PI expects to see humdrum criminals. You know, drug dealers, killers, kidnappers. I see them, too, but I’m always overrun with weirdos. Seriously? “Sometimes, things come in threes.” Bad stuff times three. To end it, I have to break the pattern of triple negatives.
