Gregory Nassif St. John loves holidays and Halloween is at the top of his list. “Perhaps because I was born in the Autumn, it’s my favorite time of year. And while some people may associate Autumn with Thanksgiving, I associate it with Halloween.” In his early 20’s, while living briefly in Los Angeles, he was befriended by a young man named, Jamie, who’s love of Halloween seemed even greater than Gregory’s. To commemorate All Hallows’ 1984 – only weeks before moving back to New York – Gregory wrote an “All Hallows’ Poem” to honour the day and thank Jamie for his kindness and friendship. For the next 40years Gregory has continued the tradition and written an “All Hallows’ Poem” to honour and celebrate Halloween. Here, to celebrate 40 years of All Hallows’ poems, are all 40 poesies from1984 to 2024. For everyone who loves Halloween, there can be found a myriad of feelings, memories and images in these poems that will bring a smile, prompt a little contemplation and perhaps even raise an eyebrow if not some hairs!
