This is a true story of an unexpected storm that hit two small towns where most of the people were not in a flood plain and did not have flood insurance. Many of the houses and local businesses were washed away, and all the life-long belongings were ruined as the swift floods came in so suddenly. Twenty lives were gone in an instant and the ones who could not escape were desperately trying to help others until it was too late for them to be saved. There were those who clung to life in trees and held on. As quickly as the storm came, help started flooding in from all over the world as the news went out. This story is tragic, but there are so many heroes, that this dark day lingers with stories of selfless acts of kindness which brought about a ray of sunshine on this day of tragedy and loss that will leave a mark forever on the ones who experienced it. I wanted to do something more than just the small donation I could make. I help people get their books self-published through Amazon, and I thought I could tell you what I know, and show you the photos that were posted, and when Amazon pays every two months, I will give that money to the Joseph’s Storehouse. They have a place already set up to distribute things for people in need and I promise you, this money will go directly to the town and to the need. It is a small way I can contribute a little more. I live in McEwen and know some of the precious people who lost their lives on earth that day, and I have several friends who lost their homes and all their belongings. But I have seen this very loving community come together in ways that have shown us, we truly are blessed. There is something inside humanity that instinctively comes to the rescue, not only in this community, but all over the world. Help has poured in from other cities, states, countries, and, our government, including the National Guard. I have seen A T & T helping people, and I saw a T-Mobile Truck come in (there may have been others, these are the two I personally saw in the pictures). I saw Billy Graham’s team from Samaritan’s Purse, the American Legion, The Red Cross, United Way, and The Animal Shelter. All the churches united and distributed food, supplies, clothing, school supplies, animal supplies, and much more, all became available immediately. Many cars and trucks were ruined, and I have witnessed people coming together offering rides for those who need to get to their jobs. I am sure there will be many books published and many miracle stories to be read. I want to share the part that I know, but these will not be all the miracles. It will be enough, I hope, to encourage you to never give up, God has His people positioned to help you, no matter the storm. I will post the pictures that were given to me by my friend, Amy Benton who searched and found them and surprised me with them. The pictures speak volumes of the devastation, I hope the words of hope speak just as loudly.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
