Lehman's adventurous life took other turns as well. He once traveled into the Arctic Circle in the middle of winter on snowshoes and drove the Alcan Highway when it was a dirt road. Married for 62 years, he now resides in Colorado and continues to write. He has written numerous western novels. Among several recommended by the Library Journal are, Texans on the Powder, Trappers on that Devil Water, The Golden Bullet, and the Ghost of the Bar 'H'. He has also contributed articles to Cowboy magazine and The Montana Journal. A desire to tap the market of contemporary fiction and nourish his talent in new paths produced Up From the Ashes, his first novel outside the western genre.
