The straight steel stem terminates as a tiny ring accent that ushers the socket into the first layer of shade. This layer comprises a conical etched glass shade dropping the entire length of the bulb and ending as a hollow base. Near the base of the cone, another shade in form of a heavy sloping clear glass pops with expansive wings. The hat-like glass adds another layer of visual interest by enlarging illumination. Moreover, the posture of the glass creates an irresistible focal point.
