Crocheting has been around since the 1800's, drifting in and out of popularity over the years. Today, it's back and is a highly sought after craft that anyone can do. I was first introduced to crocheting when I was 9 years old by my grandmother. I was always intrigued by the funny looking animals and doilies she made. I am a keen crafter, that has tried lots of different crafts over the years most of which I have self-taught. My full-time occupation is a pattern designer. I started pattern designing because I could not find patterns that I wanted to do or I found one, I couldn't read it. So, I would spend days rewriting it into a format that I could understand. I have been designing patterns and crocheting blankets for people all over the world for years. My patterns have sold on well-known selling platforms for a few years now and the popularity is fast growing, however my dream would be to eventually write them into a book format. Being a qualified therapist I all so fully understand the remedial benefits of getting involved in a craft such as crocheting and the positive effects it has on the mind, body, and soul. My patterns are all written out in English using UK terminology, however I do include a conversion chart which includes US and AU terminology too. The yarn recommendations are based on my own experience of making patterns with my favourite yarns. This book contains the following: Information on doing a swatch test and gauge details. Abbreviation conversion chart. Chart with yarn details (colour, Brand name, total stitch count and estimated balls of yarn needed). 1 Page chart. 9 Page chart. Row-by-row written instructions. Details on crocheting for health benefits. The chart count is 200 stitches wide and 200 stitches high. It uses a total of 12 different colours. The blanket on completion will be approximately 40 inches square (this size will depend on how tight you crochet). However, you can increase the size of the completed blanket/throw by increasing the hook size and the yarn weight from double knit to Aran or chunky. Sometimes to increase the size of my crochet I use two or three strands of yarn instead of the single strand. But don’t forget to alter the hook size accordingly. To reduce the size, use a thinner yarn and smaller hook. The brand used for this pattern can be changed and working out how much yarn will be needed is explained within the pattern. There is something special in making anything handmade but gifting something handmade is something else. The sense of achievement you feel when you get to that last stitch is truly amazing. How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
