(Brassica oleracea) Heirloom variety dating back to the 1950's, produces blue-green leaves with curled margins. Appearance is similar to grocery store varieties, except that leaves are slightly thinner, and more tender. Excellent cold tolerance-- plants will even endure hard freezes. 55 days to harvest. Approx. 100 seeds/pkt. CULTURE: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Plant seeds 1/4" deep in pre-moistened seed starting mix. Set transplants outdoors just before the last frost, spacing plants 24" in all directions. Baby leaves can be harvested approximately one month after transplanting and mature leaves can be harvested at approximately two months. When harvesting, it is best to clip off individual leaves so the growing tip is not damaged. Plants will tolerate a good deal of frost and their flavor will sweeten with cold weather.
