Mentzer enjoys a career in science, teaching, and writing. After many years as a senior scientist at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, he began teaching math and science. He authored two books on optics and biomedical engineering, and is completing a third on the subject of mild traumatic brain injury.  His technical books are widely distributed in three languages. Mentzer enjoys restoring classic boats, cruising the Chesapeake Bay and Eastern Seaboard, writing, reading, and teaching.  He is also a professional musician.  Next he plans to write fictional novels.
