"A sparkling debut novel. Plenty of action and great characters." --Robert Broomall, author of Texas Kingdoms and The Dispatch Rider What if a gunslinger killed your unarmed father and you had to catch him, but you have a gimpy left leg, you've never been ten miles from home, and you've never shot a pistol? Eighteen year-old Zeke Halstead must join his uncle and his grandfather, a U.S. Marshal, in pursuit of the killer and his partner. Uncle Billy hasn't spoken to his father, Marshal Henry McNichol, in over ten years, and he doesn't want to join the hunt, but does so for Zeke's sake. The trio track the gunman west across 1871 Kansas. Zeke fears the gunslinger will kill all three of them, but once on the trail comes to realize there's near enough hate between his two relatives as the three have for the gunslinger. "A sparkling debut novel. Plenty of action and great characters." --Robert Broomall, author of Texas Kingdoms and The Dispatch Rider I started Western Pursuit in 1989. I wrote after work and on weekends while working full-time and raising a family. After many years and several drafts, I sent the manuscript to Westerns novelist and writing instructor Robert Broomall, who critiqued it and offered suggestions for improvement. I continued to write when I could over the years. A writing break of several years then followed while I was on active duty. I resumed my writing schedule again when I returned to civilian life and wrote several more drafts over many more years. When I felt it was as good as I could make it, I again sent the manuscript to Robert Broomall, who read it and gave me his endorsement. I have been very pleased with the comments I've received from readers since publishing Western Pursuit in May 2020, and, per requests, am writing a sequel that picks up where that story ended. As I am now a full-time novelist, the writing goes much faster and I expect to publish the sequel and a serial-killer Mystery in 2022.
