His road home, a journey over a thousand miles through the parched desert of Nevada and Arizona, brings him to Fort Mojave, where he saves a young Hopi accused of cattle killing. This issue eventually lands him in a conflict between the Hopi and the Navajo that can eventually create a tribal war between the two nations
