At last count, he and Brenda, his wife of twenty-six years, have five living children, 25 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren between them. Brenda's oldest daughter died on January 3, 2008. After graduating from Louisiana State University, he served as a pilot and flight instructor in the U.S. Air Force. He received an MBA from the University of New Orleans and his Doctor of Business Administration Degree from Grenoble Ecole de Management in France. He has specialized in management troubleshooting and business turnarounds. He also owned his own real estate management and construction companies since 1965. He is currently Adjunct Professor of Business Management, on the faculties of the University of Phoenix, DeVry University, Central Michigan University, and Concordia University. He was previously the Chair for Undergraduate Business and Management at the Louisiana Campus of the University of Phoenix.
