For the past three centuries, the Barrier's only objective was to keep humanity alive. Following an ill-timed uprising from the Tumult Reef, the Kemari threaten to wipe any remnant of humanity off the face of the planet. In the following chaos Vera and the rest of her squadron are cut off reinforcements and are forced to hide in the shadows of the Reef. Forced to ally with a group of Delvers, she uncovers a new threat, as well as one that's been lurking under everybody's noses. The Kemari are not what they seem, and neither is the Barrier. Armed with the knowledge of a grand conspiracy, Vera is forced to make a choice: stay at the Barrier and protect the lives of her friends, or venture out, and end the war for good. The Tumult Reef takes all in time; happiness is worth fighting for, but sometimes the only way to make a life is to carve it for yourself.
