Reviewed by Bernadette Longu for Readers' Favorite Wednesdays with Meghan by Jane Farrell is a most charming and delightful story about a young girl who suffers from autism. The story revolves around Meghan and her father who have a special bond. Every Wednesday they go on an outing together to special places that appeal to Meghan. She chooses the place for each week and her father helps prepare her to ask questions or place orders for what they want.Jane Farrell brings to light how different people react to a child who is unique and how it can cause confusion and frustration in that child. It is an interesting book in that the reader realizes how frustrating it is for a child who cannot be understood when they know exactly what they are saying and how patient one must be when encountering children with learning problems. This book will provoke a lively discussion between a class or group reading the book. It helps people understand children who struggle with simple actions and speech in life. The drawings by Sash are absolutely delightful and show Meghan's contentment and happiness. The illustrations bring to life the environment that Meghan lives in with her family and friends. Each drawing demonstrates her love for life and how Meghan loves Wednesdays with her father. This book will be quite a hit with young readers. I enjoyed the book very much.
