Welcome to Whigville takes us back to postwar America, into a little Mid-Michigan village the locals called Whigville—a small settlement smackdab in the middle of the arsenals of democracy, Flint and Detroit, and the hometown of young Bob Burek. From sandlot baseball to a lettered career on the manicured diamonds of Central Michigan University, Bob’s character was shaped by working-class parents, neighborhood chums, school classmates, and devoted mentors. His education leadership career of nearly 60 years left a legacy of mutual love and devotion between Bob and his students, staff, communities, and of course his family.
