I grew up in a neighborhood along Brownstown road in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, locally known as White Oak. There were no signs, no stores or housing that suggested the area needed a name. There was a Methodist Church and a dozen or so farm homes scattered south and north of the Church. I lived in the White Oak Neighborhood from 1933 to 1956, when I was two years old until I was 27. Several of those years were spent in the army and college, but White Oak was always ‘home’. People living in White Oak Neighborhood knew each other, depended on, and helped each other, and build Good Samaritan character. This book is some family history about our 15 White Oak neighbors, their family genealogy back to the time they came to America, plus numerous experiences involving families which truly made this a special neighborhood. Three of the families are highlighted that any neighborhood would be super blessed to have; the Samuel McClung family, the Mann family and the Clingman family. The sum of it is to honor the neighborhood and thank the people who lived there during my time for the impact it had on the rest of my life. If all the neighborhoods in which I have spent multiple years could be magically duplicate into what they were when I move there, I would pack my bag and head to White Oak.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
