Half Jicarilla Apache and half white, Wilder Hawk has one foot in the both worlds, but doesn’t fit in either. His father, a famous mountain man who married an Apache chief’s daughter, died in a hunting accident before Wilder was born. He’s now 18 and a grown man who chooses to leave his tribe and roam the West. His destiny, where ever the Great Spirt lead him in search of adventure and a connection to the man whose name and heritage he bears. His travels take him from New Mexico to the Colorado Rocky Mountains, pitting him against wild animals, dangerous terrain, and bandits. His biggest challenge is the one he least aspects, guiding a widow and her children on a six hundred mile journey to their home. When disaster threatens, which is does often, it takes all of Wilder’s ingenuity and strength to ensure his own and the family’s survival.
