Here are some 70 poems, each describing a particular flowering plant. The plants are native to the Pacific Northwest, and are found in parts of British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. They include many of the most familiar and best-loved plants of the region, as well as some rarities. The poems are clear and accessible. They aim to reflect, in language and structure, some of the elegance and beauty of the flowers themselves. They are accompanied by some 20 pen-and-ink drawings that illustrate in detail the structure of the plants and flowers.
