I have found some hilarious renditions and encounters with wine in Europe, but not enough here in Australia and New Zealand. Usually the bridge between humorous, personal stories and the academic world of wine is very long, so I wanted to shorten this bridge and attempt to make the reading and absorption of wine knowledge a bit more fun. I tried to create a balance between very technical processes and concepts, and deliver it in a fun way, where you can have a laugh while having a coffee somewhere, or sitting on the toilet at home, or on someone else's classier than yours. For some, it might feel and sound a bit simple and downplayed, and for others too theory-heavy for a book that's supposed to be funny and easy reading, but I hope it lands close enough to the middle, where both sides of that divide can enjoy reading it. These were all stories from my personal life, sometimes a little bit bent and buttered for enjoyment's sake and the impact of delivering an important concept, but I hope you have fun reading it. Even though I'm a dentist who has had multiple scientific peer-reviewed articles published in the US by leading dental journals, I am also a certified sommelier, qualified with the Court of Master Sommeliers Europe, and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust of London.
