Watch out... Here comes Wipeout the wave! Wipeout wonders why he's so different from all the other waves on the beach. Lonely and sad, Wipeout decides to travel the Seven Seas looking for waves like him. He nearly gives up hope until he makes a new friend, Surfer Steve, in the North Pacific. Together they travel for a meeting with the Wave Council of the Seven Seas where Wipeout discovers the reassuring answer he's been searching for. READERS FAVORITE FIVE STARS Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Wipeout the Wave is a children's picture book written by Billy Baldwin and illustrated by Liesl Bell. When a wave named Wipeout knocks Cindy off her surfboard due to his unpredictable zigs and zags, the young wave is admonished by the other waves and exiled for daring to be different. Desperate to find another wave which is like him, Wipeout travels the seven seas, consisting of the North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Southern, Indian, South Pacific, Arctic and North Pacific Oceans, meeting new friends and having many exciting adventures. Wipeout finally discovers he is not alone, and that he is a rare type of rogue wave. Absolutely thrilled with this news, Wipeout returns home to Turtle Point for the surfing contest and becomes famous around the world for his amazing travels. I truly loved reading this new Billy Baldwin tale, which is both fun and educational, teaching children about the aquatic geographical locations of our beautiful planet. Each ocean gave Wipeout a glimpse of the unique stories which originate from various oceans, all carrying their own individual type of flora, fauna and marine life. Children of all ages will love and treasure each lesson learned at all of the various locales, as well as the mysterious trip to visit the Wave Council which leads Wipeout to discover his true identity. Billy Baldwin has made learning both fun and fantastic, and I look forward to reading more of his classic tales in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed Wipeout the Wave and recommend it to children aged 5-12, so that they may learn to both love and enjoy the beauty of the oceans and what lies within them.
