Elizabeth Gaskell was a British author during the Victorian era. Gaskell's novels are notable for detailed descriptions of the different classes of society in 19th century Britain. Gaskell's novel Wives and Daughters: An Everyday Story is about Molly Gibson, the only daughter of a widowed doctor in the 1830's.
