A history and research of of women in the Contemporary Black Baptist Church. Some of which relates to personal experience. Deals with some the indoctrination issues that male preachers and pastors have to overcome. The author comes from a Missionary Baptist background, where women were not allowed to preach and pastor. He believed and supported this position for years. Until his wife told him she was called to preach. For years because of his indoctrination and wrong Theology he kept his wife from announcing her call to the ministry. She told him she had to obey God rather than man. Pastor Willoughby fasted and prayed for God to give him an answer. He did. It was found in Genesis 1: 26, "Let them rule". The whole in seminary every time this verse was read the instructor simple replaced the word them with him. God said let them rule not him. This changed Pastor Willoughby's life, marriage, theology and teaching. Pastor Willoughby did graduate from the Baptist Seminary that indoctrinated him. However, he has went on and earned a B.S. in Religious and a M.S. in Urban Ministry from Martin University. He continued his studies at Wesleyan Seminary and earned his Masters of Divinity. Pastor Richard E. Willoughby is now Co-Pastor with his Wife Kathy J. Willoughby at Promise Land Christian Community Church. Where their motto is "Where the Bible is Our Only Rule for Faith and Practice". Him and His wife are one in marriage and ministry. Pastor Willoughby is now a supporter of women in ministry including leadership positions in the Christian Church.
