Wonderful Experiences in the Work of the Kingdom of God Personal experiences, true to fact without exaggeration beginning with my first pastorate in 1887. From time to time through the years, there have been a number, both ministers and others, who have requested me to write down a few of my experiences in the work of God’s Kingdom, as such a record might be of assistance to others. This labor of love has been postponed until now, especially for the reason that my time has been so fully occupied with work that I have not found the necessary time to devote to it. Then, too, as these are personal experiences, it could hardly be avoided that the egotistical pronoun “I” would appear throughout the book. This I have dreaded because I might be misunderstood as desiring to emphasize my own personality, which is not at all my purpose. I have nothing of which to pride myself. I have more than enough faults and shortcomings; and yet I must add, with thanks to God, that His grace to me has been abundant and not in vain.In order to avoid the use of “I” the author had thought of using a fictional name; but since that plan might give the impression that the stories may have been borrowed from somebody else and thus weaken the contents, I shall have to use the word “I” in the hope that I may not be misunderstood.I trust that it may be fully understood by my readers, that all these narratives are personal experiences and true to fact without exaggeration precisely written as they have been experienced. Many of these stories will be found to harmonize with the title of the book, “Wonderful Experiences.”Instead of classifying the stories into certain groups, the author has written them in the order in which they transpired. Aside from the first narrative, these experiences begin with my first pastorate in the year 1887 in the pioneer days, and then continued on through the years to January 1934 in which year that I retired as a Seaman’s pastor—that is to say, over a period of forty-six years. May these narratives serve in some small measure to glorify the name of God! May they strengthen the confidence of souls in the leadings of God and confirm the faith in His promises, which are immovable in time and eternity. With this prayer in my heart, the book goes forth to perform its mission. -E. B. Slettedahl

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
