It is an important and vital scholarly work. Born in China’s northern Gansu Province, Professor Li Guoyu was educated at Lanzhou University and Beijing Petroleum Geology College. He has written close to 70 books and more than 30 scholarly papers on petroleum geology and has spent many years developing a theory of Sedimentary Basins that portrays an optimistic prognosis of oil and gas reserves in the world. Li Guoyu has combined his academic research with industry experience working with China’s largest petroleum company and the Chinese Ministry of Energy. He is an Honorary Academician with the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Li Gu
