It's 2050 and the renaissance of football (soccer) thinking has just begun. This is the first installment of a football science fiction journey shared by two countries from opposite ends of the world. When Gunnar Grimsson's player identification drone goes missing on the outskirts of Iceland's Reykjavik airport, foul play and subversion are to blame. Ambitious nations bent on dominating world football at all costs embark on a mission to steal the revolutionary technology. Will Gunnar have the clout to protect his proprietary invention from his adversaries? He may stand a chance when he ushers the support of his Australian friend and football scout, Robby Denehy. With twists and turns throughout the story, world football domination keeps you on your toes by providing glimpses of what the future of football beholds. "WorldFootball Domination--The Virtual Talent Scout: Volume 1 is a unique and imaginative book. It features an intriguing concept: using a drone and smart armbands to identify gifted athletes. The story is an uncommon blend of sports history, espionage, and technology fiction that explores themes of social responsibility and scientific exploitation. The ending leaves the door open to the next volume and indicates that Robby Denehy and Gunnar Grimsson will face more challenges as they attempt to utilize the Player Virtual Identification (PVI) system to find football players who deserve a chance to become professionals." - Kirkus Editorial "A so-so football fan, I thought this was going to be a bit boring. I was wrong as this book is extremely intriguing and I could not put it down! I am intrigued by the idea of AI doing anything like talent-scouting and this is a fabulous mystery/fantasy!" - Dr. Patricia Eroh "The principle that underpins the foundation of the system is fairness. Every football player has a right to showcase their talent if they feel motivated to do so." In this first book in the author's series, it is the year 2050, and football as we know it no longer exists. A man named Gunnar Grimsson has invented the Player Virtual Identification System, which allows scouts from all over the world access to player information in even the most remote areas of the globe. The device collects information, which can be analyzed extensively, ostensibly to even out the playing field. In other words, even those players who cannot afford the time or money to travel to scouting locations can be recognized for their talent. Further, the system can recommend players for specific positions and even suggest player changes mid-game based on these algorithms. But once Gunnar and Robby notice that other nations are trying to mess with the intelligence, they set out on an adventure to support their dreams of an equal opportunity sport for people from all across the world. This book is fast-paced and easy to read. It's a truly interesting story about a sport that is rarely written about in a futuristic, technology-enhanced world. The author seamlessly weaves the modern quest for gridiron glory into the future in this entertaining book. The new technology is kept just on this side of believable, and the descriptions are precise enough to feel as if the Player Virtual Identification System could really be the new wave of sport recruiting. The author's novel should appeal to lovers of sports, science fiction, and technology alike, and it is sure to keep readers interested at every turn of the page. Review by Cristen Fitzpatrick - The US Review of Books I would like to thank my readers for their positive experiences reading the series of World Football Domination. When I first started the project I wanted to present an imaginative and unique expose of what will become of soccer in thirty years' time. A story that was different from other books in the same genre. It was also about projecting equality in sport and talent identification for inspiring young soccer players from all socio-economic backgrounds by creating new technologies to support it. The series can be read separately, however, I recommend you start with book 1 to get the foundation and storyline. Although the series is categorised as young adult, some of my best fans have been mature adults and they have thoroughly enjoyed the concept. It's a story for everyone that is a soccer aficionado! It's 2050 and the renaissance of football (soccer) thinking has just begun. When Gunnar Grimsson's player identification drone goes missing on the outskirts of Iceland's Reykjavik airport, foul play is to blame. Ambitious nations bent on dominating world football at all costs embark on a mission to steal the revolutionary technology. Take a glimpse into the future of world football in this three-part series.
