During the mid ‘80s, Ratt was one of the biggest hard rock/heavy metal bands in the United States. Turn on MTV, and it was seemingly only a matter of time until a Ratt video was aired. Visit your local newsstand, and you were sure to detect a Ratt band member on the cover of one of the leading rock mags. Take a gander at the album charts, and one of their platinum (or platinum plus) LP’s would have been easy to spot. And let’s not forget that from 1985 and throughout the remainder of the decade, they were a featured attraction on mammoth festivals, and also, rocked arenas on bills that featured Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick, Poison, Warrant, or Queensrÿche… with Ratt headlining over those bands . But, seemingly just as rapid as their rise to the top was the abrupt halt to their career in 1991 – with the onset of grunge and alt-rock replacing the party hearty metal stylings of the previous decade, in addition to internal strife within the band behind the scenes. World Infestation: The Ratt Story recounts the L.A. band’s entire tale – from their beginnings as a band slugging it out on the Sunset Strip alongside such stiff competition as Mötley Crüe and Metallica, to scoring hit singles (“Round and Round,” “Lay It Down,” “You’re in Love”) and albums ( Out of the Cellar , Invasion of Your Privacy , Dancing Undercover ), creating their own unique look and sound (dubbed “fashion rock”), dealing with adversity, and how their music has reached a new audience in recent years. Comprised of quotes from interviews past and present (as well one of the last-ever interviews conducted with Ratt’s late guitarist, Robbin Crosby), World Infestation: The Ratt Story will certainly take you round and round…and then lay it down. "You pretty much called it in your book." -Stephen Pearcy (Ratt singer) " World Infestation: The Ratt Story is a good read for folks like me who only know a few Ratt tunes. Their story is the classic rise and fall tale: starve in LA, go to the top, and the inevitable fall from grace, all briskly told. Lotsa good tidbits and backstage road tales are included. Prato wisely tells the story using the participants own words when possible. I have a few quotes in the book, and Greg portrayed my words and sentiments exactly as I intended them. A fun read!" -Bun E. Carlos (original Cheap Trick drummer) " World Infestation: The Ratt Story takes the reader on a wild ride through the band's tumultuous rise to the top and all the dysfunction that eventually brought it all down. However, not lost is the band's fine musical legacy and importance to the genre. The story is helped along with lots of great quotes from industry types, other musicians and the band members themselves. As a huge Ratt fan, I learned tons of things I never knew before which is really a trademark of all Prato's excellent work as a hard rock historian." -Don Jamieson (That Metal Show, That Rocks, That Jamieson Show) " World Infestation: The Ratt Story by Greg Prato is one of the most compelling and engaging heavy metal biographies to date. The gritty, nasty Southern California band's rise and fall and crash into oblivion make for one of the ultimate page-turners of 2024." -Steven Blush ( American Hardcore author/filmmaker) "The definitive history of Ratt." -Gerweckradio "The guy knows the deal on how to write a great read, and this book is 200 pages of that." -The Distortion Den "Another must-read book from Greg Prato, especially for fans of 80s rock! In World Infestation: The Ratt Story , we get the complete saga of Ratt told by those who were there when it happened. From Ratt's early days grinding it out at clubs on the Sunset Strip, to the band's breakthrough hit 'Round and Round', rise to fame in the mid-80s, and later acrimonious breakup due to internal drama, substance abuse, and legal battles, it's all covered here. In-depth quotes from interviews Stephen Pearcy, Juan Croucier, Bobby Blotzer, and Warren DeMartini, along with Ratt producer Beau Hill are included along with one of the last-ever interviews conducted with late Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby (thanks to rock journalist/podcaster Mitch Lafon). You won't be able to put this one down until the very last page!" -Eric Senich (Van Halen News Desk, Booked on Rock Podcast) "Prato takes us on a journey across the albums, production, recording, releases, and tours while providing lots of insight, trivia and a decent amount of opinion. His opinions were tempered and fair and not out-of-line with what many Ratt fans I've talked to casually over the years, would feel." -Metal-Rules
