A limited number of books have been printed. Don’t miss this opportunity to order yours while supplies last. Bruce A. Davisson, a resident of his native state of Colorado, served for 32 years with the Colorado State Patrol, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. In 1979 while on patrol, he had the opportunity to meet an Indiana State Police sergeant vacationing in Colorado. Several days later an Indiana State Police shoulder patch arrived in the mail. That was the beginning of over 40 years of collecting and researching the patches and badges of State Police and Highway Patrol agencies, In 1983, Bruce met Frank Brown through a common interest in obsolete shoulder patches of State Police/Highway Patrol agencies. After discussing the need for a historical resource for other collectors, they committed to create this much needed resource. After a significant amount of effort and research, in 1985, Worn With Pride was published and soon became recognized as the ultimate guide for collectors of State Police/Highway Patrol patches. An effort to create an update to Worn With Pride was set aside in 1999 with the unexpected death of Frank Brown. Fifteen years later, in casual conversation with long-time friend and associate, Tony Aleria, an update to Worn With Pride was mentioned. The seed had been planted and soon afterward a partnership was formed to create the Second Edition of Worn With Pride.Bruce still has a passion for collecting older State Police/Highway Patrol patches. Tony R. Aleria, Sr. is Hawaiian-born and has lived the majority of his life in California. He served for 27 1/2 years with the California Highway Patrol. Tony became a Motorcycle Officer in 1993 and retired from CHP in 2017 with 24 years of motorcycle enforcement. Tony was a Certified Motorcycle Training Officer, Firearms/Range Officer, Arrest Tactics Instructor, Field Training Officer, and a consultant for CHP history. In 1989, as a cadet attending the California Highway Patrol Academy, he observed a framed collection of law enforcement shoulder patches on display in the recreation room and his Department’s history displayed in the CHP Museum. This formed his interest in collecting law enforcement shoulder patches. Tony obtained his first patch from the West Covina Police Department on his first day on the job and was mentored by the best in the hobby, Gene Gianuzzi. Tony eventually chose to focus his collection to patches from the “State Police/Highway Patrol” agencies of the U.S. His collection expanded to include badges, duty hats, motorcycle helmets, license plates, and signs. Now, Tony has over 30 years of collecting and researching the State Police and Highway Patrol agencies of the United States.Tony obtained a copy of the original Worn With Pride in 1996 and had occasion to meet Frank Brown that same year. Tony was instantly moved by Frank and his quality of character. Bruce and Tony have shared a deep friendship for more than two decades. For Tony, being asked by Bruce to partner with him to author the Second Edition of Worn With Pride was both humbling and exciting.Tony’s strong desire to find and preserve older State Police/Highway Patrol patches continues.
