This fictional story, told from the perspective of two young boys in a village in Honduras, tells of the beginnings of wildlife conservation in the mountainous jungles adjacent to Lake Yojoa. Follow their adventures as they witness the local skepticism and resistance, get lost in the jungle, and are captured by jaguar poachers. The vivid descriptions of village life are authentic, since the author and her family lived near Lake Yojoa for five years and experienced the local culture first-hand. Marian Blumenschein's two daughters published her book posthumously. Audrey wrote the last chapter and edited the manuscript; Laura did the illustrations. This book can serve as an excellent resource in the classroom to introduce students to the conservation efforts in Central America, with thought-provoking questions and research suggestions in the back.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
