Product Usage:
Using optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) measurement fiber, sometimes encounter situations very short fiber optic link. When measuring short fiber links often get large attenuation value (xxdB / km). The attenuation index can not get a good evaluation and assessment. Why is this? What method can obtain a better test result?
Since the optical fiber link is short (generally less than 5km), OTDR measured curve has some volatility, these tiny fluctuations influence the final numerical calculation. OTDR described in the technical parameters, there are indicators of a linear degree, the general OTDR this indicator is 0.05dB / dB (E6000C: 0.05dB / dB; N3900A: 0.03dB / dB), in fact, this indicator is described OTDR fluctuation range of the curve. So for short fiber, OTDR measurement accuracy is to be challenged. This problem is also common problems currently faced by the OTDR, then the method used to reduce this impact?
1, added 5km false test fiber.
Due to join the 5km false test fiber, the fiber length is growth, this effect will be reduced. You should be able to get a satisfactory result. However, due to the increased length, but also introduced a test error, this method still has some errors caused by test method. But the quality of the project as a validation test data are quite reference value.
2, light source, optical power meter measuring the link loss, measure length with OTDR.
Due to the use of a light source, optical power meter measurement close to the standard loss link loss measurement method, so the loss of measurement accuracy improves. Of course, for the

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
