Following the British attack on Charlottesville, the Albemarle County Militia discovers two isolated farms looted and burned. The attacks leave seven dead and no survivors. With little evidence to determine the assailants, the focus suddenly turns to an unlikely individual. A trusted confidant to Tom Lorton and the Militia suddenly disappears shortly before being exposed as an imposter. A search ensues, leading north into hostile territory and unexpected peril.
