Ype M-I: Redemption is the second book in the Ype M-I Trilogy. Ype m-I: /’(h)wī pem-one/-NOUN- a restriction enzyme used for deciphering a biological weapon. Ype M-I Trilogy is a metaphorical treatise on scientific malfeasance in which Evil and Good meet on the plane of humanity and await instructions from the Creator - annihilation or survival? For connoisseurs of fiction who like unpredictable plots about scientific intrigue and mystery, sprinkled with a few dashes of terror, and tempered by love and compassion. Ype M-I detailed how a former Soviet bioweapons genius crafted an innovative creature using gain-of-function bioengineering. Its predecessor, Yersinia pestis , caused the 14th century Black Death, resulting in the deaths of 200 million people. The new pathogen was engineered to develop resistance to antibiotics and vaccines, while possessing self-learning capabilities. Doctor Vassili Kolobkov created the new life-form by integrating unnatural nucleotides into its DNA. Al-Qaeda terrorists infected undocumented immigrants with the new life-form as they crossed the southern border into the USA. A widespread epidemic emerged, causing the deaths of over 300,000 individuals as it spread through the western United States and continued into Mexico and Central America. Once it entered an ecologically biodiverse area in Costa Rica, the life-form went into a dormant stage for self-preservation. The epidemic’s halt brought global relief. Regrettably, it was learning and adapting itself to ensure the ultimate extinction of humanity. A culture from Costa Rica was dispatched to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas, for further analysis. The sequel begins at this point in the story. YpeM -I: Redemption As a June thunderstorm sweeps into Galveston, the deadly bacterial pathogen becomes a chief antagonist in a perpetual conflict. A daring grad student chooses to work solo with the pathogen late at night in a BSL-3 basement lab. His task involves studying the genetic evolution and communication methods of the new life-form. The student soon realizes that his decision to work alone was unwise. Join the ongoing adventure of the UTMB research team and ancient ally as they confront the enigmatic infectious agent. Get ready for unexpected turns in the global sequel. Time is running out! 5-star review excerpts on Readers' Favorite. https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/ypem-i Jamie Michele.
