Yuewei Cottage Notes is a collection of five kinds of literary sketches written by Ji Yun in twilight years and they are very meaningful. The book has a wide range of interviews, such as elder generation, officers, teachers and friends, younger generation, servants and soldiers. The content is mainly about ghosts and spirits, also records local customs, officialdom changes, poems, articles, laws, regulations, medicine, astrology, and anecdotes. Though a collection of stories about ghosts and spirits, it is not to talk about these things but promotes Confucianism and virtues through these stories. What's more valuable, the author writes in a practical and reasonable manner while promoting Confucian ethics and values.
