Photochromic shields adjust to changing light conditions by darkening when exposed to ultra violet (UV) light. The shield tint will lighten under conditions with limited UV exposure, such as cloudy weather or in the early morning or late evening when the sun is positioned low.

Photochromic shields change color gradually, not instantly.

The level of darkness is impacted by temperature, weather, UV levels and riding posture.

The shield tint gets darker and takes longer to fade back to clear in cold temperatures compared to warm temperatures. The shield tint also becomes darker in  high levels of UV.

Moisture or UV levels may affect the color tone.

Certain types of light sources may cause stripes of light and dark areas. This cannot be avoided and is not a defect in the shield.
