This is the first in Michael Caldwell’s autobiographical series. The series is not a chronological account of Michael’s life. Instead, he has chosen to organize it around major topics or events in his life. He started with Zambia because, as of the time of this publication, it marks the 50th anniversary of when he first met his wife, Maria Kennedy. They met in London on a training course before taking up their posts in Zambia, where they spent the next two years teaching and traveling, though at opposite ends of the country. They could only get together three times a year during the school’s term breaks. Despite that, they covered a lot of ground and fell in love.
